    Begin here to find the government publications owned by our Library.  JHU receives about 50% of the publications offered to depository libraries.  Using the catalog will also provide the link to the online version of specific publicatons.

    • FirstGov  - The official U.S. gateway to all government information that searches millions of web pages from federal and state governments, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories.  It provides access to services, publications and other resources.

    • LexisNexis Government Periodicals Index
      The federal government offers numerous magazines and newsletters.  This is a quarterly index to those publications.  Some titles are retrospective to 1988.  Although, not full text, the Periodicals Information section contains hyperlinks to most of the periodicals. Note: Articles from government periodicals appear full-text in many of our topical databases.
    • Military and Government Collection
      Provides cover-to-cover full text for nearly 400 journals and periodicals and
      offers current news pertaining to all branches of the military.

Federal Agency Databases:
The following list contain selected databases produced by various agencies. 

  • AGRICOLA Web Gateway -- NAL The National Agricultural Library's (NAL) Web Gateway to Agricultural Online Access (AGRICOLA) Searchable database of materials dating from the 16th century. Records describe pulications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines
  • Defense Technical Information Center - Contains abstracts of unclassified technical reports written under contract for the Department of Defense.
  • ERIC
    A national information system funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences to provide access to education literature and resources.
  • EPA - National Environmental Publications Information System
    Offers over 10,000 full text, online EPA documents.
  • Federal Business Opportunity (FedBizOps)
    Single government point-of-entry (GPE) for Federal government procurement opportunities. Replaces Commerce Buinsess Daily.
  • MedlinePlus - A consumer oriented medical information site created by U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health.
  • National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS)
    NCJRS is a federally funded resource offering justice and substance abuse information to support research, policy, and program development worldwide.
  • NASA Technical Report Server
    NASA Technical Report Server (NTRS) is to provide students, educators, and the public access to NASA's technical literature. NTRS also collects scientific and technical information from sites external to NASA to broaden the scope of information available to users.  Also contains citations from NACA, NASA's predecessor.
  • NTIS: via JHU WebSPIRS (1983-present) , via Web (1990-present) , Gives citations for publications added to NTIS collection in last 10 years. The National Technical Information Service is the largest source of government sponsored research reports. Contact the Government Publications Librarians to obtain copies of NTIS reports.
  • Pubmed
    PubMed is the National Library of Medicine's interface for MEDLINE. It contains links to the full text of many journal articles.
  • Transportation Research Information Services (TRIS) "Research projects conducted or sponsored by State Departments of Transportation, the Federal Highway Administration or the Federal Transit Administration may be searched here by selecting keywords, title words, and other criteria. Project descriptions are contributed to the database on a continuing basis by the funding and performing agencies.
  • World News Connection World News Connection provides information on many topics, including unclassified military, political, environmental, sociological, scientific and technical data reports from around the world. This information is taken from a variety of media sources, including political speeches, television programs, radio broadcasts, articles from newspapers, periodicals, books. The World News Connection is the equivalent of the FBIS on-line. Coverage begins in 1996.
