Google Scholar

Google Scholar lets you search broadly for scholarly publications.  Now it can tell you whether the JHU Libraries subscribe to an article online and can link to the full text.  If your search results include books, Google Scholar can also indicate whether they're in the JHU Libraries collection.

Configuring Google Scholar to Link to Full Text @ JHU Libraries

This will work on campus (at Hopkins IPs) and off campus if you've installed the JHSecure VPN software.  For resources JHU owns, you can see a link next to the citation. That link is a very subtle text link for "FIND IT@ JHU" (not the Find It button) and/or "Import into RefWorks."

In order to see the links, you first need to configure Google Scholar:

1. On the Google Scholar site, go to the Scholar Preferences page (clicking this link will open the page in a new browser window).
2. In the section for Library Links, type Johns Hopkins in the box and click on Find Library. Then check off Hopkins when it appears as a choice on the screen.
3. Next, choose the option for Bibliography Manager - select RefWorks, for example, if you use it.
4. Click on Save Preferences and you're ready to search!
