Access to Other Libraries for JHU Faculty and Graduate Students

Direct Borrowing
The Eisenhower Library has direct reciprocal borrowing agreements in place with libraries in the Chesapeake Information and Research Library Alliance (CIRLA), Baltimore Hebrew University, Maryland Institute College of Art, and St. Mary's Seminary.  These agreements allow Johns Hopkins faculty and graduate students to go in person to a participating library and borrow materials.  Johns Hopkins patrons must obtain the appropriate Direct Borrower Form from the Eisenhower Library Circulation Desk before visiting one of the libraries below.  Participating libraries:

Baltimore Hebrew University
George Washington University
Georgetown University
Howard University
Maryland Institute College of Art
National Agricultural Library
St. Mary's Seminary
Smithsonian Institution
University of Delaware
University of Maryland at College Park

OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program
Johns Hopkins faculty members are eligible to participate in the OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program.  Participating libraries determine whether this program extends to on-site use and/or borrowing.  OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program cards, and a list of participating institutions are available from Agnes Flannery-Denner at the Eisenhower Library Circulation Desk (410-516-8370, agnesfd@jhu.edu).

Research Libraries Group (RLG) Access for Graduate Students
The Eisenhower Library will support access for graduate students in the school of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, and the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education, to libraries in the Research Libraries Group (RLG).

  • The Eisenhower Library will reimburse graduate students for library access fees charged by RLG member libraries. We do not reimburse borrowing fees.
  • Access reimbursement is approved in advance, on a semester by semester basis.
  • Students must be in a graduate program and conducting research towards a dissertation or master's thesis.
  • Students must contact Jim Gillispie ( jeg@jhu.edu or 410-516-4816) before purchasing access to an RLG library.  Jim will make any required contacts with the library, review and approve your request, and authorize reimbursement.
