- Books obtained through ILS generally have loan periods between two weeks and six weeks. Loan periods are entirely at the discretion of the lending institutions, not the Eisenhower Library, so always check the due dates of individual books by looking at the attached slips. When returning books, please make sure the slip is still attached.
- A single renewal may sometimes be obtained. The standard renewal period is two weeks from the original due date. Requests to renew books can be placed through your online account with MSEL Interlibrary Services & Document Delivery System.
- Special note on loans from other JHU libraries:
Materials from other JHU libraries (except those from the Applied Physics Lab, Downtown Center and George Peabody libraries) will be picked up and checked out at the Circulation Desk using your library card. Renewals, overdue fines, and check-ins will be handled by the Circulation Department, not by Interlibrary Services. These books will not have the usual ILS strip attached.
PLEASE NOTE: Books should be returned to the ILS office on time so as not to jeopardize our standing with other libraries. ILS does not assess fines for overdue books, but lateness may affect our ability to provide good service. Patrons who flagrantly disregard due dates will have their ILS privileges revoked. Patrons who lose ILS books will be charged the full replacement cost assessed by the lending library. - Photocopies obtained through ILS need not be returned -- they are for the requestor's retention.
